How was your trip?

"How was your trip?" was something we used to say when I was around ten or eleven years old after someone tripped and fell down. I'm glad no one said that to me today.

I went to the post office to mail a package. I got the best spot near the building so I was feeling pretty good. I grabbed the box out of my backseat and started walking. After taking a few steps, I tripped over the concrete "stop block" thing that some parking lots have. I fell between the sidewalk and the minivan parked beside me. I'm sure the man sitting in the van was greatly amused. A very nice woman ran over to help me up. She was very concerned about my knees since it appeard that I fell on them, but I think my arm and toes took most of the impact. I got up and thanked the lady and went inside to mail my package. I had a lump in my throat the whole time I was inside and wanted to burst into tears. My feet really hurt! My right arm was also shaking a little since I used it to brace my fall. I was also now walking with a limp.

When I got home, I checked out my feet since they were hurting the most and this is how they looked:
They don't look as bad as they feel. I chipped nail polish off of several of my toes and I had just painted them a few days ago. I can't wait to see how pretty this is in a few days when the bruises start showing. I know my feet already look deformed. I think it's from years of ballet dancing (on my toes).

I have a bad habit of falling down, but it almost always happens in the rain. No rain was involved today. I remember falling down on my lunch break in Valdosta one time. I was trotting across a parking lot (in the rain) to pick up my lunch. When I was about to step onto the covered sidewalk, I slipped and fell on my right knee. It took the entire impact of my fall. The bruise was there for about a month. At the time, there were several people standing in front of the restaurant under the covered walkway. Most of them gasped and said, "Oh my gawd! That woman just fell!" while pointing at me. No one offered to help me up or even showed any concern. These were business people in suits.

The next time was in Atlanta. I was having my oil changed one Saturday morning. It was raining. I drove into the garage area and checked in. As I was walking to the waiting room, I slipped on some water from a wet car and fell down. The man walking behind me said he thought I was doing gymnastics since my feet went above my head before I hit the ground. Not only was I in a little pain, but I was embarrased and covered in dirty water. The owner kept checking on me in the waiting area, but I was fine.
