Pete has thoroughly explored the courtyard and marked every square inch. There is no mistaking that she rules this yard.
Annabelle enjoys basking in the sun on the concrete. She has thoroughly explored the backyard and courtyard, but Pete has done the "marking". Annabelle goes outside and refuses to come back inside. We usually have to go out and retrieve her because Pete will worry herself senseless. She has issues with being separated from Anne. I took this photo while trying to coax Annabelle inside. She just stared at me.
When Pete and Annabelle visited in December, Annabelle figured out she could squeeze through the gaps in the courtyard gate and get to the backyard. Since the gate at the side of the house is a little high from the ground, we were concerned about the dogs crawling under the fence and escaping. We decided we wanted to confine them to the courtyard. I also reasoned in my mind they would be a little safer from snakes in the courtyard. Don't laugh. We added some fencing material to the gate to prevent the dogs from going to the backyard without us.
